Remodel & Renovation Electrical
When you remodel a kitchen, bathroom, or whole floor, the room's electrical needs change with it: new appliances, new lighting, new layouts, and often wiring behind the walls that was never built for any of it. This is the service you need when a contractor says "walls are coming open" or an inspector says the existing wiring won't pass. We start with a load calculation, which means adding up what your remodeled space will draw so we know whether your panel can supply it, and we tell you the answer before drywall goes up, not after. Then we do the rough-in, the stage where circuits, boxes, and wiring are installed while the walls are open, including the dedicated circuits code requires for modern kitchens and baths (a dedicated circuit serves one appliance alone, so your microwave and your lights never compete). Where old wiring turns up, including knob-and-tube (the early-1900s method still hiding in many Portland homes) or aluminum branch wiring, we replace it while access is easy and cheap. After your contractor closes the walls, we return for finish work: devices, fixtures, and plates installed and every circuit tested. You end up with an inspected, labeled system sized for how the room will actually be used, and if we find a surprise behind the old walls, you hear about it with a price before it changes anything.

New circuits, panel work, and most remodel wiring require permits in the Portland metro; like-for-like fixture swaps often don’t. We confirm what applies to your address and pull the permits ourselves. It’s included in your itemized estimate.
Warning signs include two-prong ungrounded outlets, breakers that trip regularly, outlets warm to the touch, flickering when appliances start, and any home still running knob-and-tube or aluminum branch wiring. We can inspect and tell you honestly whether you need targeted repairs or a full rewire. They’re very different prices, and we quote both when it’s a judgment call.
